Haldwani is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand in India with its twin city Kathgodam. Also known as the ‘gateway to Kumaon’, Haldwani is the third largest city in terms of population. Founded in the 19th century, its name was changed to Haldwani.

The Uttaryani fair is the main attraction here every year on the festival of Makar Sankranti. Located at Pantnagar, a part of Tanda forest is the Sanjay Van. About 23 km. from Haldwani, the Sanjay Van is a beautiful picnic spot of picturesque sights. Bird watching can also be done here. Rare migratory birds can be spotted here.
Chitrashila Ghat, a weak cremation ground of Hindus is located in about 8 km, Ranaghat. Here is the main attraction for the festival of Makar Sankranti from the Haldwani as Uttarayani Fair of Pahadi Mela. Sanjay Van is a part of Tanda Forest, located in Pantnagar. About 23 km from Haldwani, Sanjay Van is a striking picnic spot of pleasing places. Rare Birds can be seen here too, if you love Bird watching.
Haldwani is a popular site for excursions to Sattal around 22 kilometers away. It is a fusion of seven fresh water lakes together. There are beautiful dense oak and pine trees surrounded by lakes. Haldwani has other beautiful lakes and patches of excursions, they are Naukuchiatal, Mukteshwar and Bhimtal, all the lovely places for excursions. English is considered equivalent to Westmoreland of England, this place really value the comparison. Jim Corbett National Park is approximately 55 km. Being Haldwani India’s oldest national park; there are about 448 species of wildlife and plants in this park.
